Indian grocery online with delivery in Warsaw and across Poland: how ordering works

· Little India Team · Living in Poland · 5 min read

If you live in Poland and there is no Indian shop near you, toor dal, curry leaves and ponni rice can come to your door instead. Little India is an Indian grocery store with online delivery to any address in Poland, Warsaw included, by courier or post. The website has an English version, but many product names and labels are in Polish. This guide explains how to order Indian groceries online, how to find products under their Polish names, how fresh produce ships, and how to pay.

When it makes sense to order Indian groceries online

  • You live in a city without an Indian shop. Little India has shops only in Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław and Gdańsk. If you live in Poznań, Katowice, Łódź or Lublin, online delivery from an Indian store is the simple way to get atta, dal and fresh coriander.
  • You buy heavy items. A 10 kg rice sack, atta and a tin of ghee are not fun to carry on a tram.
  • You are short on time. You can place an Indian grocery order online in the evening in a few minutes, outside shop hours.

Little India sells groceries, cosmetics, pooja items and festival decorations, so one parcel can cover a month of shopping. For the full overview of what the shop sells, read our guide to the Indian shop in Poland.

Indian grocery online: how to order, step by step

  1. Open the English version of the shop.
  2. Search by name or browse categories such as herbs and spices, lentils or fresh vegetables.
  3. Add the products to the cart and enter your address.
  4. Choose a delivery option. The cart shows the options and their cost before you place the order.
  5. Choose how to pay: bank transfer, electronic payment, or cash on delivery.
  6. Check the summary and place the order.

A prepaid order that is not paid within 3 working days is cancelled. The shop terms (regulamin in Polish) set the delivery window, counted from the day the payment is booked.

Finding products when the pack is in Polish

Many product names on the site combine Polish, English and Hindi, for example "imbir świeży (ginger, adrak)". If the shop's search finds nothing in English, try the Hindi name or the brand: MDH, TRS, Everest or Suhana for spices, Haldiram's for snacks, Aashirvaad for atta. The same Polish words are on the shelves of Polish supermarkets, so they are worth knowing anyway:

English / HindiPolish
Turmeric (haldi)kurkuma
Cumin (jeera)kmin rzymski
Coriander (dhania)kolendra
Fenugreek (methi)kozieradka
Lentils (dal)soczewica
Okra (bhindi)okra, piżmian jadalny
Taro (arbi)kolokazja jadalna

Fresh vegetables and herbs: the Tuesday shipping rule

Fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs ship once a week. Orders with fresh items are collected until Monday and shipped on Tuesday; an order placed on Tuesday or later ships the following week. So if you want okra or drumstick for a weekend meal, order by Monday. The same rule covers fresh fruit, for example green mangoes. Our guide to fresh vegetables online explains what the shop sells and how to store each item.

Grocery delivery in Warsaw, or a visit to the shops

Little India has three shops in Warsaw (Mokotów, Śródmieście and Wola), but not everyone lives near one, and heavy shopping is easier to have delivered. Online delivery from the Indian grocery store to a Warsaw address works the same way as anywhere else in Poland: you order on the website, choose the delivery option in the cart, and the parcel comes to your door.

If you prefer to see the products, Little India has six shops: three in Warsaw and one each in Kraków, Wrocław and Gdańsk. See our guides to the shops in Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław and Gdańsk. Addresses, opening hours and phone numbers are on the Little India shops page. What a shop has on the shelf can differ from the online range.
