Supermalt was first produced in 1972, originally used by the Nigerian army as a healthy food supplement to re-energise the troops. Its vitamin content along with its sweet and refreshing malt taste meant it grew and grew in popularity. Supermalt sales spread across Africa, the Caribbean and the UK and is synonymous with Afro-Caribbean history and culture – many people talk about how when they were growing up, Supermalt was ALWAYS in the fridge.
