W 1960 roku browary Ceres rozpoczęły eksport piwa słodowego (Malt øl) w duńskich standardowych butelkach do Indii Zachodnich. Wraz ze wzrostem eksportu piwa słodowego w większości Indii Zachodnich, Ceres zmieniła nazwę na „napoje słodowe”, które ostatecznie przekształciły się w Vitamalt.
