Whole shelled black lentils (URID)
Black lentils are very popular in India and Asia. It contains a lot of protein, little fat, carbohydrates, folic acids, a lot of fiber and minerals. It has a low glycemic index.

Before cooking, soak (minimum a few hours)
All urad or black gram are beans grown in South Asia. Whole beans, or the split and hulled varieties are used for dal, for accompanying rotis and rice. It is also used for the famous southern Indian idli and dosa.
