The clay curry pot, known as chatti (or regionally: meen chatti, manchatti) is a traditional kitchen vessel from southern India, especially popular in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Made of 100% natural, unglazed clay, this pot is free from toxins and chemical coatings, making it safe for health and environmentally friendly. Hand-formed by local craftsmen, each piece has a unique character and aesthetic rooted in Indian culinary tradition. The porous structure of the clay allows for slow and even cooking, which brings out the depth and earthy flavour of dishes. Ideal for preparing fish curry (meen kulambu), stews, yoghurt dishes, soups and vegetables, as well as for serving - the vessel is both practical and decorative. Cooking in such a pot also helps to preserve the nutritional value of dishes, reduces the need to add fat, and gives meals a unique aroma. Before first use, it is recommended to soak the pot and boil rice paste in it, which seals the pores of the clay. After use, leave the pot to cool and wash it by hand, without detergents, to preserve its natural properties. The pot should be stored in a dry place - thoroughly dried, it will prevent mold. It is not only a pot, but also a symbol of India's culinary heritage, which combines functionality, health and tradition - ideal for lovers of authentic taste and conscious cooking.
