Lapsi Pickle is prepared with hog plums, which are preserved in oil with the addition of aromatic spices in the Nepalese style. The ingredients are carefully selected to bring out the best flavor of the marinade.

The hog plum, or the yellow mombin has pale-yellow exterior and freckled skin. Because of the large pit and hard-to-separate spines, hog plums are not commonly eaten straight-from-the-branch. Taste is much like a Granny Smith apple- sweet, sour, and a little bit tangy. 

This delicious marinade is the perfect addition to your favorite dishes and works great with rice, chapati, naan, paratha or even bread.
