Rosa Kekulu Rice Ariya is a variety of red rice called also ''Pink Rice'' or ''Rose Rice''. Kekulu or kakulu is a traditional variety of rice from Sri Lanka. This rice has the same grains as Nadu rice, but is never pre-cooked or steamed. Most kekulu is white or red rice, but there is also brown kekulu, which is considered one of the most nutritious rice varieties in the country. Kekulu rice plays an important role in Sri Lanka’s diet. Remarkably, White and Red Kekulu varieties together amount to more than 40% of the rice purchased in Sri Lanka. Kekulu can also be used for Kiribath, the island’s traditional rice pudding, which consists of sweetened rice boiled in coconut milk; as well as for veg and meat dishes.
